AVR LAB – Department of Innovation Engineering of University of Salento (Italy) develops research activities focused mainly on virtual and augmented (extended) reality technologies in performing arts, cultural heritage, education, medicine and surgery.
It is also engaged in thedesign and development of advanced human-machine interfaces. It has developed applications of AVR technology for cultural heritage: enhancement of archaeological sites, virtual tours,three-dimensional education programs for students in cultural sites.
It is one of the founding members of the European Virtual Reality Association (EuroVR) and every year organises the International Conference on Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Computer Graphics, which brings together the international community of researchers to discuss key issues.
Applications and innovative trends of AVR technologies, three-dimensional imaging, performing arts and computer graphics in medicine, cultural heritage and industrial sectors are some main activitiesof the Lab.
